Course Summary: This course introduces students to the fundamentals of phonetics and phonology with reference to English. Where appropriate and relevant, students will be exposed to samples of data and sounds from languages other than English especially those spoken by Muslims. The course will enable students to evaluate basic information on English phonetics and phonology from other sources and relate to what is being learned in class, give simple comments on basic information provided by other sources on phonetics and phonology and appreciate the gift from God, that is the ability for humans to speak.
Sofware: UCLA which is preinstalled in computers in English Lab 3.
